Waikato Museum

Set on the banks of the mighty Waikato River, Waikato Museum Te Whare Taonga o Waikato is the artistic and cultural heart of Hamilton city and the Waikato region. Waikato Museum’s exhibitions and events tell our stories from a regional and global perspective, featuring art, social history, tangata whenua and science from touring exhibitions and the museum’s own collections. Experience the awe of our majestic war waka Te Winika, learn important Waikato stories, and explore the world of local Maori in our long term exhibitions. With more than 25 new exhibitions every year, there’s always something different to see and do.

Exscite, Waikato Museum’s interactive science gallery, is jam-packed with hands-on activities for young people to actively learn while having fun. Admission fee applies.
